The dancers and percussionists of Kuumba's junior and senior companies entertain and educate with a program featuring traditional African dances and music from Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Senegal. Authentic costumes from those countries add vibrant color to the performances by this professional dance troupe, led by Natalie Jackson. The Kuumba Dancers and Drummers have played a variety of colleges, schools, libraries, corporate events and festivals throughout Florida. The ensemble has opened concerts for several internationally known artists, including Ladysmith Black Mambazo, King Sunny Ade, Chief Ebenezer.
This Youth Services Summer Reading Program is designed for the enjoyment of children entering Kindergarten up to 5th grade.
