Youth Poetry Contest Awards Reception, Wednesday, May 18th!


The Awards Reception for our Youth Poetry contest will be held in the Library's Multipurpose Room at 6pm on Wednesday, May 18th. 

We look forward to seeing all of our entrants and their families! Even if you did not enter the contest, please drop by to hear the winning entries read out loud by the winners. 

Congratulations to our winners and many thanks for your support of the contest, National Poetry Month and your Maitland Public Library!

Children's Art Festival this Saturday, Apr 30, 10am-2pm!

Join us for a memorable day at the Children's Art Festival on Packwood from 10am-2pm!  Enjoy puppet shows, musical stories and live performances from our Youth Services Department! 

We will also be having a Mother's Day craft and Raffle with tons of book prizes for your children!  Everything at the Library booth is 100% FREE!

After a long and highly successful Booksale, all programs will now be held in the Multipurpose Room!  Thank you all for your support of the Booksale and your patience with the programming shift to the Civic Center.

Special Storytime on the Lawn this week!

You and as many guests as you can bring are cordially invited to attend...

Storytime on the Lawn!

Join us at 10:30 a.m, Tuesday, April 12th

In celebration of National Library Week, we will be having our Tuesday morning Storytime on the library's front lawn (facing Maitland Boulevard).  Refreshments will be served and blankets for the lawn provided.  Bring your friends and neighbors, a snack with you, or your favorite blanket and enjoy a great Storytime!

Lawn area is gated and fenced for children's safety.  In the event of inclement weather, Storytime will be held in the Maitland Civic Center, just next door to the library.

Youth Poetry Workshop
Saturday, April 9th
2:00pm-4:00pm

- In congruent with the Library's Youth Poetry Contest, Take Me Away..., local poet and author
  Elaine Person will present a 2-hour workshop on poetry writing for ages 8 - 18.

- During the workshop, young poets will learn the basics of poetry writing and how to strengthen their
  writing.

- Workshop will be held at the Maitland Civic Center, next door to the library

Youth Programming meeting at Maitland Civic Center from April 1st - 25th!

It's that time again!  Time for the Booksale!  And that means, all Youth Services programming will be held at the Maitland Civic Center, just next door to the Library from April 1st- 25th.

Patrons attending Youth Programs - Storytimes, READing Buddies and Culture Club, are welcome to park at the Library or the Civic Center.  We are keeping our regular schedule for all Youth Services programming.  See you there!

Maitland Public Library's Youth Services is proud to announce that we are having a Special Toddler/Preschooler Storytime, hosted by the PJ Library and sponsored by the Jewish Academy of Orlando.  Librarian Reba Gordon will lead the Storytime.  Following Storytime, there will be an activity and a snack.

As always, this program is FREE and open to the public.  You do not need to be a Maitland Library card holder to attend.

G'Day! Culture Club heads down under to Australia! Wednesday, Jan 12th at 4pm!

For kids in K-5th grade; younger sibs are welcome with accompanying adult.

Culture Club heads for the country continent of Australia today, Wednesday, January 12th at 4pm in our Multipurpose Room. 

Gain insights into Australian culture, which is founded on notions of a ‘fair go’, love of the great outdoors and a dry sense of humour. Learn more about Australians - the Aboriginal culture, legendary folk heroes, modern day heroes and the diverse nationalities that make up modern Australian society.

Check out the quirky and interesting information about Australia, with facts across a range of areas, from record-breakers to Australian flora and fauna.

It's a multimedia presentation, a craft and everyone's favorite: a taste of Australia!
