TODAY! Thursday, July 28th, 2-4pm: Tampa Taiko performs!

Tampa Taiko is a professional drumming ensemble that has performed their unique style for a vast array of audiences, performing at festivals, concert halls, schools, workshops, summer camps, corporate and VIP events. Using a collection of taiko drums made by themselves from discarded barrels, Tampa Taiko has developed a dynamic fusion of old and new styles of drumming, bringing a contemporary vibrance to an ancient martial artform.

This FREE! Summer Reading program is designed for the enjoyment of children entering Kindergarten to 5th grade.  You do not need to be a Maitland library card holder to attend.

Thursday, July 21: Didgeridoo Down Under! 2-4pm















The Didgeridoo Down Under Show (DDU) is a high-energy, Australia-themed program that combines music, puppetry, comedy, environmental education, character building and audience participation. DDU is interactive, educational and super fun ... a one-of-a-kind musical & cultural experience for all ages!

Darren Liebman created DDU in 2003, and since then it has evolved into one of the most popular "edu-tainment" programs in the U.S.  Darren and his didg mates perform year-round at schools, libraries, festivals and other venues. They have presented more than 3,000 shows and workshops at 1,800-plus venues for well over 300,000 viewers and participants!

TODAY! Thursday, July 14th: Journey to Africa!

Kuumba Dancers & Drummers


The dancers and percussionists of Kuumba's junior and senior companies entertain and educate with a program featuring traditional African dances and music from Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Senegal. Authentic costumes from those countries add vibrant color to the performances by this professional dance troupe, led by Natalie Jackson.

The Kuumba Dancers and Drummers have played a variety of colleges, schools, libraries, corporate events and festivals throughout Florida. The ensemble has opened concerts for several internationally known artists, including Ladysmith Black Mambazo, King Sunny Ade, Chief Ebenezer.

This Youth Services Summer Reading Program is designed for the enjoyment of children entering Kindergarten up to 5th grade.
